At 8:03am on the 16th of March 2004, Rebecca Williams Elder was born. At birth, she weighed 3.85kg (8 pounds 8 ounces). The labour was long and extremely arduous, but Heather bore it like a trooper; in the end, the doctors performed an emergency C-section.

Heather and Rebecca shortly after birth. Rebecca's unhappy about this whole "outside world" thing and Heather's still a bit shell-shocked.

Traditional proud daddy photo. Rebecca is about 40 minutes old in this shot. No, I haven't become a baker - they make you wear that stuff on your head for the operating theatre.

The proud mother, somewhat recovered from the delivery.

Extreme close up. Note the IV drip in her right arm; this is to administer antibiotics, as she was born with a bit of a temperature.

Rebecca being given a good old cuddle by Heather.

Again, asleep in a hospital cot.

Father/daughter bonding.

Ibid; aka "sensitive new age guy pose".

Asleep over Mummy's shoulder.

Asleep in the cot.

Hand size comparison, Jack vs Rebecca. The unsurprising conclusion: a 28 year old male has bigger hands than a 40-hour old female.

Mother and child.

Rebecca demonstrating how many fingers she can fit into her mouth.

The (very) proud parents.

Ready to leave the hospital, belted into her car seat and looking unimpressed.

About to leave the hospital - taken in the nursery of Sara Ward, Rosie Maternity.

Home at last. Heather has a (single) celebratory drink.

Sunday morning in bed - Jack giving Rebecca a cuddle while reading the latest issue of Cycling Plus.

A piercing glare.

Click here [2.1MB AVI] for a brief video of her demonstrating her powerful suck (sound recommended) and ability to fit hands into her mouth.
