Day 3 on the ground. Arrival without incident the day before yesterday. Whanau, or at least as many of them as available, came to the airport mob-handed and in multiple vehicles, the better to transport our 67 and counting kg of luggage back to my parents' place.
Still feeling faintly parboiled from the jetlag and blinking under the Southern Hemisphere glare. It's spring (again): bottlebrush are bristling by the roadside, cicadas fizzing in the garden, and I'm getting reacquainted with different birdsong. Becca is being fussed within an inch of her life and has happily bonded with her grandparents and Fuffuff, which is what she calls Suzie, the dog.
Suffering mild to moderate Today Programme withdrawal (had a frantic fiddle with the radio dial over breakfast but stupidly unable to find the National Radio); otherwise, is good to be home.

packing
Wednesday, October 12, 2005
It's been a frantic few days, and likely to continue so for the next few days and weeks. Many thanks to all our lovely friends who've helped out with Bug-wrangling, catering, counselling, jewellery-making, real estate advice, tea, biscuits and sympathy while we put our lives in order for the next phase. We'll miss you all.
I have to get back to the packing now. The movers are back in eight and three quarter hours. I am awash with tea.

Regarding the sale of the house, we're nearing, so to speak, the end of injury time and heading for a penalty shoot-out. Further bulletins as events warrant.
