Becca just picked up a stray Z-shaped metal fitting* from the study windowsill. 'Thassa TWO!' she declared triumphantly, brandishing it at me. I had to agree: it does look like a 2. We've been seeing a lot of those lately, mostly on birthday cards.
According to my father, when I was very young I spent some time gazing at the pairs of handles on a chest of drawers before sagely pronouncing that three twos were six. At the time, this precocious observation promised much, but sadly it represented the zenith of my mathematical aptitude. Still, I have a sneaking suspicion Becca's smarter than me. Much smarter.
*Don't worry, it wasn't a particularly pointy fitting.
